Slave Raider
Slave Raider was an American heavy metal band formed in 1985 that was known for its over-the-top antics, heavy make-up and glam song lyrics.
In the 1980s, the Minneapolis music scene was primarily known for The Replacements, Soul Asylum, Hüsker Dü and Prince among others. In the Twin Cities, Slave Raider had a sizable following that were known as 'The Raid'.
They opened for such 80s bands as Ratt and Poison with the original line up.
The band recorded three albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but were never able to make much of a dent in the glam metal scene of the time due to the beginning of the grunge movement that interestingly, has been attributed to the influence of their fellow Minnesotans, The Replacements.
The band was dropped by its record label following their third album release in 1990, and broke up soon after that with the band members going on to solo projects.
The original line up has periodically reunited since then to perform the occasional reunion show.
Band members
* Chainsaw Caine (Mike Findling), lead vocals. After leaving Slave Raider, he performed with the 80s metal spoof, 'Hairball.' He has since retired.
* Lance Sabin, guitar. As of 2007 Lance is Vice President and Director of Admissions for IPR. (Institute for Production and Recording) He, along with Slave Raider production alumni Tom Tucker, founded this school in 2002.
* Nicci Wikkid, guitar. As of 2008, Nicci Wikkid (David Hussman) is a software consultant in the Twin Cities and a well-known leader in agile software development processes.
* Letitia Rae, bass

In 1977, Dale Lytle and Dave Raudman united the musicians that would form the band known as Angeles. The band first played together in Tujunga, CA. They started playing free to the lunch crowds at local San Fernando Valley high schools for exposure. They played at Robert Wouda’s house parties in Sylmar, CA every weekend and with expanding backyard parties, the Angeles Band reached thousands of people.
Their first Hollywood gig was at the Troubadour where they were setting attendance records playing the midnight slot on Sunday nights. They also played at The Whiskey, and The Roxy. Hollywood loved Angeles. They became one of L.A.’s largest Indie bands of the 80’s. They performed at Devonshire Downs outdoor stadium to over 6,000 people. In 1984, Angeles performed at the Reseda Country Club, appearing with Bon Jovi. They have also shared a stage with Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ratt, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, and Ronnie James Dio.
Signed to Mystic records, Angeles recorded their debut album “We’re No Angels”. They were featured in the Sep. 1985 issue of Hit Parader magazine. The band signed with Azra Records in 1986 and recorded their second album “Give It Up”. Angeles went on to record four more albums, which have sold worldwide. After they signed with ACE Records, they went on to record three more albums including “Delivering the Goods”, “No Limits”, and “Angeles Miracles”.
A number of Angeles’ songs, including “Nasty Girls”, “You Want Me To Love You”, and “Can’t Find the Words” have been played on nationwide radio stations. In 1999, their album “No Limits” was featured on 95.5 KLOS Local Licks Sunday night program. Angeles was honored to not only be featured on the program four times, but they were also the only band to ever have six songs played on a Double Local Licks feature in a single program. During one week in 1999, “Can’t Find the Words” was played 527 times. The song continued to play nationwide on radio stations for three months.
After 36 years, the band still continues to write music, and looks forward to their annual Make-A-Wish Foundation benefit show.
Angeles continues to play with heart and refuses to give up their love of music. The last two years they have played with Jefferson Starship, Robbie Krieger of the Doors, Jack Russell's 'Great White', The Tubes, and Foghat, just to name a few of the legends of Rock N Roll.
Angeles Band released their No Limits CD in 2013, and Seriously Fun in 2014.
The newest change has been that of Daphne Winters becoming our lead vocalist, after the tragic loss of Fallon, who died while doing one of the things she loved. Riding her motorcycle. She is terribly missed, and one of our heavily-played songs 'Monster Mash' (an annual Halloween favorite) was with her at the helm.
Daphne, a singer-songwriter and plays the guitar, has brought a new sound to Angeles Band, with her own style of a bluesy rhythm, coupled with strong, hard-hitting vocals that will nail you to a wall.
